I hope someone out there can help me with this.

I am developing an Intranet portal for someone, lets say company B.
I am hosting the site at my office, Company A.

I want to be able to set it up so if they go to the Intranet portal from inside their network, it will not only bring up the portal, but automatically log them in to it.  Of course, from outside their network, there would be no auto-login.

Reading some of the posts, it appears that this module will handle authentication to AD, and can be setup for auto login...
The question I have, is can it authenticate to the AD from a completely different domain accross the Internet?

I hope I have explained what I am trying to do here in sufficient detail - if any further information or clarification is required, please let me know.

I am looking for the answer to this as well. We have student sign in on another portal application. They can click to come to our DNN portal, but are required to login again. Would love to have auto-authentication, either through a referring url, or by a url w/ username and password generated in it. Or any other ways would be great as well.

Thanks- Rockbridge

If the portal is outside the companies network, it is no longer an intranet portal. To them it is no different than any other internet portal. The "auto-login" requires the IIS server and the user to be connected to the same domain. Auto login can only happen when a user is logged into a domain on their local pc, and then access an IIS server that uses integrated authority connected to the same domain. Credentials are passed (hashed of course) and the IIS server then accepts (or denies) access to it's services based on those credentials. Assuming they are accepted, the user is "auto-logged in" to the server (and with this DNN module, logged into DNN also).

The only way having the service located at your site (company A) and getting this would be by creating a trust relationship between CompanyA domain and CompanyB domain. I cant imagine a company being willing to do this, as the security risk is gigantic.

Remember... intranet is INSIDE... otherwise it's just another internet site.

Probably not the answer you were hoping for...

Regards.... Paul
