Hello All -

This is my first post here (I am a totally newbie at DNN) and unfortunately it is out of a feeling of helplessness that I do so.  Been trying to install (clean install) DNN 4.5 on my host for the last couple of days and have had no success.  Tried searching the forums here and couldn't find anyone that seems to be having the same problem.  And if there is and there is already a thread I would appreciate a link to it and apologize for the duplicate post ahead of time.

In any case, I am trying to do the following:

Clean Install
Hosted environment (HostDepartment)
MS SQL Server 2000

I have downloaded the 4.5 Install version unpacked it and then FTPed everything to the root directory in my hosted domain.  An empty MS SQL 2000 database has been created (and subsequently deleted and created and deleted for many different installs).

I renamed the file release.config to web.config and also changed remoteonly to off for errors.  Then I go to the web address and get redirected to /install/installwizard.aspx which starts the process of installation.

I have tried all three options (custom/typical/auto) with varying results yesterday.  One of which was an error saying that the portalaliases record is not found (or something like that).

Today the error that I am getting is:

EXECUTE permission denied on object 'aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion', database 'envisio_cridez', owner 'dbo'.

The options that I am selecting is

Integrated Security OFF
Run as db Owner OFF

And I am typing in the user name/password.  The tables all get created and most of the stored procs get created with the login name provided.  But there are about 10 or so stored procs that are owned by dbo.  One of them being the one giving the error above.

In between trying different options I have been overwriting the web.config file and also deleting the sql database and recreating it.

I just want to know if anyone else is having this problem?  And/or if there is some solution looking me right in the face and I am too slow to see it?  Any assistance would be appreciated.

Mahalo!
-R.

Hi,

I am having the EXACT same situation here.

Also tried version 4.4.1, cant remember what error I got.

On the same host I got a 4.3.7 running.

Hope someone can shed some light on it. Perhaps give a hint as to what I should ask of the hosting facility.

Kind regards

am having the exact same issue now on hostdepartment server, trying to do a clean install on 4.8.0. I think i will get on the chat with them today to see if they can offer a solution. Otherwise i am planning on installing it on my local database server at home then uploading a backup of the db and a zip of the site to get around this issue. what a pain in the neck though.

The install failed on hostdepartment server, because they do not grant DBO by default on its databases. I had to file a ticket to escalate the issue to the sysadmin. As soon as this change is made, I can use the DBO account to execute the scripts and that should take care of the problem. I don't know why the DNN code needs to run as DBO, but i tried every single permutation of with and without, and using my login id as prefix, but nothing works. only having dbo seems to work. i would call that a bug in the DNN database code i think. Anyway, that should solve the issue for us hostdepartment users.
