The dotnetnuke is running slow.

Is it possible to configure the dotnetnuke's configs and .NET framework's configs to improve performance?

Which version are you using?

You can improve performance by using compression. Latest version provides compression, also there are third party options like Page Blaster from Snapsis.

Also another thing to keep in mind is that DNN might be slow when rendering the first fiew pages after an ASP.NET worker process restart if the worker process stopped due to inactivity.
