Hi all,

I need some help on a user account issue.  I had a user who was approved and had all the security roles, but they couldn't access functionality that they should have been able to.  So, figuring something was hosed up with the account, I figured we could just delete it, let him re-register, and then re-add the roles and see what that did.

As it turns out, I deleted his account and he went to re-register using the same username and it wouldn't allow him, saying that the username already existed.   Why is that?  More importantly, how can I clear out a user so that the username again becomes eligible?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anybody have any guidance to offer on what happens when you delete a user account?  I have combed the database looking for orphaned data that is preventing my user from re-registering using the same user name, and I can't find any indication that his user name should not be allowed. 

I'm desperate for a solution.  Please, help if you can.

When you cleared out his account you must be sure to remove all records from the following tables that were associated with the user.

Users
aspnet_Membership
aspnet_users
aspnet_UsersInRoles (If data exists)

Thanks for the help.  There is one slight complication.  This is a multi-portal installation and the purson in question has an account on one of the other portals.  His username IS in there, but in every place I have found it, it is clearly associated with the other portal.
