I shall follow up with my web host.  It now seems to me that I did have a Host login when I first converted my main site to DNN.  Thanks for the tip.

Up until this I have had nothing but success with CrystalTech.  I'm guessing that it's my own fault through not taking a systematic approach to implementing my new DNN portal.

It turned out to be pretty simple: I had forgotten the password for host, so I went into SQL Server 2005 Management Studio and changed the SuperUser status of the Admin account.  Now I see the Host menu while logged in as Admin.  That should take care of it.
