What causes this error: Validation of viewstate MAC failed?  I am trying to install the latest version 4.5 using the wizard install.  I get to and finish creating db tables successfully in the wizard then click next and get this error, not sure how to proceed>

 

Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.

Are there more details in the log entry. I'm getting the same error a few times a day. Its always from unregistered users and always the same page

I see it a lot ... take a look at the user agent (browser type) and see if they all have something in common.

I think it's Opera almost always for me.

In which case I just ignore/delete.

The user agent in mine seems to be mozilla, with a different Client IP address and Port number each time
