Ok, I finally managed to install and got the dotnetnuke running (4.5.1). Now here is some wierd situation:

1. I have a single machine behind a router that does 1-1 forwarding. Meaning forwarding 1 public IP to 1 private IP.

2. I have put two IPs on my machine, 1 being used by apache webserver and other IIS.

3. Before everything worked fine, the public IP for apache one would show me its site, and public IP of IIS showed site on IIS (classic ASP).

4. Now when I access public IP of IIS, it is trying to access private IP from user machine? What I mean, I put on URL a public IP, and in few seconds it start showing private IP on the url, and ofcourse ir wont work, because I am on different network.

Any ideas?

Ok, here is what I did. I am running windows XP, so I can have only one site. Anyway, I changed home directory of default web site back to classic asp folder and it worked again. So i could access it from outside without problem. And then I switched back to folder of DNN, and it started doing same thing. Does DNN store the IP somwhere? I mean I used that private IP from URL to install (locally on server). Hence perhaps its stored somewhere and it does not want to be accessed from anywhere else?

the first time you install dnn, the alias is set to whatever url you use. so if you use a prive ip as your url then the alias will be a private ip.

How exactly did you install the first time around?

Also, I understand the frustration of XP only supporting one website natively. May I suggest this little tool: http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/IIsAdminNet.asp I love it!

Thanks. I used private IP locally to install DNN. Now is there anyway I can change alias, without re-installing with correct alias that I wanted? Can I have multiple aliases? Because 2-3 sites would be pointing to same site, and I do not want alias to be changing to original one.

Sorry, I found out how to add aliases. By default it added the one I used in installation. It turned out it had nothing to do with NAT.

Good, thanks for guiding in right direction.
