What all do we remove from the new template to make it work?  I'm having big trouble with this as well.

Here is the framework for the .template file. Maintaining the relevant structure, removing all occurances of these tags will allow for the template to work. I have tried the reverse process of updating the schema file with the the same entries, but that did not work. So... so far this is the best solutions I have been able to come up with.

<portal version="3.0">
  <tabs>
    <tab>
      <tabpermissions>
        <permission>
          <userid> --> Remove
          <username> --> Remove
          <displayname> --> Remove
        </permission>
      <panes>
        <pane>
          <modules>
              <modulepermissions>
                <permission>
                  <userid> --> Remove
                  <username> --> Remove
                  <displayname> --> Remove
                </permission>
              </modulepermissions>
              <foldername> --> Remove
              <modulename> --> Remove
              <compatibleversions> --> Remove
              <dependencies> --> Remove
              <permissions> --> Remove
              <defaultcachetime> --> Remove
              <SupportsPartialRendering> --> Remove
            </module>
          </modules>
        </pane>
      </panes>
    </tab>
  </tabs>
</portal>

Hours later...

It worked!  Thanks Sohoinetsol!  My template had 5000 lines and being inexperienced I made several errors and omissions but finally got the template to work.

Thanks for your hard work on this one.   Also I visited your website.  Very nice.

Mike

Thanks.

That is some template you have there! Glad it worked out for you.

On a side note, your site seems to complement a site I'm working on very well. When mine is ready I'd like for you to consider adding a link to me & I of course would do the same. Email me at the address in my profile to discuss futher if you want.

I have an updated schema file that will fix these errors so that you can also export and import those other properties.

You can get it at http://www.snapsis.com/downloads/portal.template.xsd.zip

For those who are unfamilliar, the portal.template.xsd file should be placed in the <root>/admin/Portal folder.
