Hi Folks,

A web site I'm developing started to display some problems with the authentication provider.

1. Passwords are no longer required for registration.

2. Admin > Authentication:  all the form fields are disabled and the following error message is displayed:  "The default authentication provider specified in web.config is not configured properly. Authentication settings are disabled."

- My web.config file looks fine and is standard issue from an auto install at CrystalTech.com.

- DNN version 4.4.1.

- Other 4.4.1 auto installed sites at CrystalTech.com are all working just fine.

- Just a few standard modules installed, like Ventrian's News Articles and Child Links.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,

Chris

After looking into this further I found out that passwords are actually required - bad communictions with the client.

I also tracked down issue #2 - this error shows up consistently on Medium Trust servers, but does not show up on FUll Trust servers.

Hope this helps someone else who might be wondering.

Chris
