So in reading around I found that to support the AJAXControlToolkit I needed to make a [skinname].doctype.xml file for each skin file that contains the following line:

SkinDocType><![CDATA[<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">]]></SkinDocType>

Fine, I can handle that... so that fixed my problem, but introduced a whole new slew of issues. First of all, *EVERYTHING* gets centered now (module titles, module content, etc) unless I explicitly tell them to align left. For some reason though, the module titles refuse to align left and remain centered.

Just looking to see if anybody else has had that problem and, if so, can please make some suggestions to fix it.

This actually requires quite a bit of CSS "fixes" to your skins/containers.

I've had the same problem, it's better CSS form if you fix all of that, rather than not use Transitional.

Could you please give me an example of where to change it (ie, portal.css, skin.css, etc). I have tried changing .Head and .SubHead in Portal.css, cleared the cache, reset the portal, etc, and it didn't affect anything.

Thanks for the quick reply

*EDIT*: nevermind, I found it. I had to go into the container.css and, in the case of the default skin, change: containerrow_blue1 and 2 to include text-align: left; as well as ModuleTitle_SubMenu to include text-align: left;

I'm sure I'll find more, but that at least gets me close to where I need to be. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

The only problem I have with this and it doesn't really apply to me is that building a module for distribution and using the ajaxtoolkit is out the window now. If I were to distribute any modules I build how would I know what the other user has for a skin.

We're taking the approach that you put that in the requirements part of your documentation for the skin, that in order to use functionality within the ajaxtoolkit you must set your skins to be Transitional. So it's up to the user to verify that
