DNN boasts about scalability.  When I think about scalability in server software I think clustering and load balancing (among others).  So, how is this accomplished with DNN?

I have found little to no information about how to host the same portal on multiple servers (i.e. a cluster or farm).  The scenario is this:  I would like to host a portal A on servers S1 and S2.  The servers sit behind a load balancing appliance that can maintain a "sticky session" should there be a need.  When a user enters in, say, http://portal.domain.com they will be routed to the portal hosted by S1 or S2 depending on the load balancer settings.  Let's just say S1 this time.  They will remain on the same server for the duration of their session (the sticky session deal).  Later they go to the portal, but the load balancer sends them to S2.  The user should have no indication of this.

Does anyone have any insight or guidance on this type of configuration.  I am not too interested in the load balancer set up, but more on spreading the portal over multiple portal servers.  I have looked so I am not trying to be a punter.  I am willing to read if there are articles.  Any advice will most certainly be appreciated.

Thank you.

There's a document on the official documentation pack titled "DotNetNuke Web Farm Support.doc". This should be a good start for you.

That is a great place to start.  Who would have thought:  read the documentation?  I think RTFM would have been more appropriate.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I already read the "Dotnetnuke Web Farm Support" Document, and I didn´t find how to sincronize the "portals" and "desktopmodules"  directories with the other server directories. How can I replicate the data files, skins, etc....

The file replication/syncronization is something outside of the scope of DNN, it would be a systems architecture question. I'd start by looking for server file replication software products to see what might work for you.
