I am working on my first real overhaul of a skin ... I have previous just purchased or used existing skins with minor tweaks.  But this time I have rolled up my sleves and go at it.

All is working on my Portal skin, but whenever I go to edit the contents on a page I get the error "The Controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks (i.e. <% ... %>)."  I was able to use edit for awhile then at some point I did something. I believe I back out of all the changes ... but still I get the error.    The skin looks and works as I want when not in Edit, so I am close.... I hope.

I have checked for the obvious issue, but still can't seem to find what is wrong.  So I was wondering is anyone has encountered this before and can pass on some hit where to look.

Thanks in advance... /Paul.

Hey Paul,

The only time I've seen this error is when there is a skin content pane with code inside it, something like: <div id="ContentPane" runat="server"><img src="blah" /></div>

This also occurs when you have copy and pasted code and may have no space between two pieces of code such as this - <div id="ContentPane"runat="server">   - can you see there is no space - it can also occur in the TD tag, in fact anywhere where the engine cannot read through the page -it's looking for a space that isn't there.

Just go back to your code and look at the last few changes you made and you probably have no space or duplicate '' or something small like that.

Hope this helps

And the winner is .... Sam.   Well actually I checked for the issues Nina mention too, but it was Sam's suggestion that solved the issue.

Seems I had placed an image inside the one of the panes (can't remember why) ... I would have never thought of this without your suggestion.    Hope this helps others who encounter a similar issue.

Many Thanks
Paul.
