Hi,

I have my own server, so noone else can overwrite my web.config.

Did i understood rigth that this auto-install happens if the web.config was changed?

If I make a backup of the web.config right after the upgrade, and overwrite the actual one when the site went wrong, is it  - at least a  temporary - solution?

Thanks!

Ors

I've similar symptoms but different causes.  I'd prepared a new website on a development machine and wanted to go live tonight.  I copied the code across to a live box, and detached/attached the SQL Server mdb file, added the sql login and changed the web.config. When I tried to log in received login error indicating login failed because password incorrect.  Changed  live web.config to point to development sql server box (which was OK on the development site) and DNN fired up the install script and rendered page 'dnn already installed' but still does not fire up website.

I was able to create a new account and then edit the USER sql table to change this new user to superuser therefore able to reset su and admin passwords.  bizarly, would only allow me to reset to random password usinf dnn UI and then change to pwd I wanted in the pwd change UI

machine keys etc remain same so should be OK.

4.5.1 has been giving me plenty headaches- most painful is that the superuser account is unable to view and edit site content but does see modules and site layout.  Have seen other reports about this here.

Any ideas?

Ok so here is my deal.  I have the same problem as the others but when I go into SQL Management Studio I cannot see any of my tables in there so I can't just edit the users that way.  If anyone has any ideas on how I can get my tables to show up in Management Studio that would be great since I could just edit the users that way.   Or if anyone knows of another way that I can get into the system.  This is really frustrating right now.  I can create users all day and night but my existing users no such love.
