To whom it may concern

I think Links Module is very usefull and powerfull navigational control.

I am very interested to share what I have extend to this project so far.

I added additional Control Type for this module "Templated" it will allow users to enter custom template to display the links.

See sample

How do I join this project.

Thanks in advance & hope to hear from you guys.

Regards

Virgil

That's very interesting. I like that. Can you also display the templates for each of those items on the page? I'd like to see what it takes to get the corresponding output. Also, how do you manage the templates? File uploads, textboxes, or the rich text editor?

As for joining the project, there isn't a project lead right now, but there should be someone appointed within the next few weeks, I imagine. Once someone is assigned, things should start rolling again. Just make sure you contact him/her or just post again, when someone is assigned.

Thanks for the reply.

Templates are manage in the module settings using textboxes, I added 4 settings Header, Footer, Item Template and Seperator, all of this can contain text/html, I also added image field in the links table and all links stred procs.

For now its not that simple to customize advance links because one must know html, but with input and help from other developers this will b a very usefull and powerfull module for DNN.

I have updated the sample, please check again.

Regards.

Personally, I have no problem with forcing someone to know HTML for this. It honestly makes sense to be that way. When you say text/html, I'm assuming you mean a multiline textbox (textarea). Am I wrong? I don't think the rich text editor would be good for this since it's very reliant on knowledge of HTML. Well, unless we had one that did code-coloring. That would be nice.

All you really need is an advanced option for the list type. And, what I'd like to see is all other options simply being pre-saved templates. Ooh... that brings up another idea. Site administrators could have a screen to manage the templates that can be used by modules. The radio buttons would be changed to a drop-down list of all the templates that are provided for the site.

Hmm... This could get very interesting. I'd love to see your code and help out with this. Hopefully, others can provide some ideas, too.
