Okay I hope I can explain what i am trying to do in a concise maner so everyone can understand it.

I have a portal with custom modules - they all work together and different roles can do different things in the modules depending on what I have assigned to that role (I use if in role 'xyz' functions a lot) now I have been told that the scope has changed a bit and the same modules have to be deployed across different portals that will have different roles. I have been told that its not good enough to try and dictate that the roles i have set up be used (they are sort of based on the function and name of the site so far) so i came up with a great idea of having a sort of role interface for the module

Basically the idea is I would map a role from the portal to a 'feature' of the module - this should give a lot of flexability for the module in the future if they want to change what roles can do what

So my first question is this - has anybody done a feature like this (maybe a matrix or something) that I could look at ?

Second - i did this in the settings for the module but can anybody think of a better way or place to do this ?

Thanks

PS - I am under a time crunch as this requirement has been sprung on me sort of out of the blue - Thanks again

What I have done in my modules is to have a setting that says "Permission XYZ enabled for:" then provide a checkbox list of roles that should have that permission.  This way you are not tied to a specific role name and it can be easily configured.

I will have to dig up the code examples....I only have my DNN 3.3.7 code here at work.  If you want to shoot me an e-mail, or make a post on my forum I'll try to get an example to you tonight...

well i think i have something working but have to test it a bit more

can you or someone reading this tell me what the difference is of tabmoduleid from just using moduleid in the settings

Why use that instead of just ModuleID isnt module id supposed to be unique?
