Hi

Announcing the latest release of my Free Weather Module (version 1.1).

New features include

  1. The ability to define a number of different weather forecast locations. Users able to select the forecast they are interested in.
  2. Ability to display the full weather forecast or a more compact summarised version

The module has been tested with DNN 3.x and 4.x, completely free to use with source code available in C#.
Weather data supplied from Yahoo Weather.

Hi Mark

MANY THANKS for this module - works a treat.
One minor point - it would be useful to be able to order the locations.

Going to put it onto the home page of a senior Yacht Club.

Brilliant !

Ian

EDIT: Worked for me without errors.  4.41  See at:

Fantastic Module... Thanks for the share.

I do have a question, I tried putting it on my portal and get a message saying 'Unable to display feed' and the log shows the following:

Message: System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.DoConnect(EndPoint endPointSnapshot, SocketAddress socketAddress) at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.InternalConnect(EndPoint remoteEP) at System.Net.ServicePoint.ConnectSocketInternal(Boolean connectFailure, Socket s4, Socket s6, Socket& socket, IPAddress& address, ConnectSocketState state, IAsyncResult asyncResult, Int32 timeout, Exception& exception) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() at BiteTheBullet.DNN.Utils.RssReader.Connect() at BiteTheBullet.DNN.Modules.BTBYahooWeather.Business.BTBWeatherFeedController.UpdateWeatherFeed(BTBWeatherFeedInfo info, PortalSettings portalSettings, ModuleInfo moduleConfiguration) at BiteTheBullet.DNN.Modules.BTBYahooWeather.BTBYahooWeather.DisplayFeed(BTBWeatherFeedInfo info) at BiteTheBullet.DNN.Modules.BTBYahooWeather.BTBYahooWeather.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)

Based on this info?  Do you know how I could get this working?

Great plugin! The users loves it! However, there is some minor problem with the Yahoo weather feed, it's based on the American time. However, I'm in Australia, so basically we are looking at yesterday's weather. Is there any way to tell yahoo to give me the weather for "today"?

Very nice. I think incorporating some zip-code tokens taken from the user registration to allow for localized weather would add enough value to retire from Snowcovered sales. ;) ...food for thought?  :)
