Hi

I'm building a module that produces custom, personalised reports for users, basically it grabs a list of document titles that match a user's preferences, formats them with hyperlinks, and displays them on the page. My client now wants the results to be emailed to the users on a weekly basis. Is anybody aware of a third party module that does something like this or how to tap into DNN's email system and send the results of a query? Is this even advisable from a performance perspective, or should I be looking at an offline solution such as a bulk emailer?

Thanks for any advice

Ryan

Ryan, this really depends on how you want to manage the 'subscriptions'. If the module itself allows the subscriptions, like the forum module, you can store that data along w/ the users preferences and then write a scheduled task to handle this. Now if you need to handle things such as bounce management  and true SPAM compliance, then you should look into a more robust email system.
