Since that issue has been around for a while, I guess it might interest a few.

We've released a little module that handles the keep alive logic right from inside DNN.

It simply installs/uninstalls a dedicated HttpModule that pings the application at Dispose time, which is enough to pass through the recycling.

You can download it with source code for free here (registration required)

Cheers

Jesse,

SO if I understand this correctly it will only to a request to the site on dispose, thus only 1 request per worker process recycle?  If this is the cause this is a great module.  Is it DNN exclusive?  This could be helpful for other ASP.NET applications as well!

Yep you understood correctly, that's it. And it's not DNN exclusive. It's really just about pinging late enough just before the worker is recycled. Application_End, application dispose or any httpmodule dispose time seem good candidate. I went for the latter.

Hi
This looks like a good idea and so I tried but instructions for use seem to have eluded me.

The wording on the download site seems to imply that the module is installed automatically so maybe it does not need to be on a page. By the way I did not need to register as the file was already live to public download.

On a new 4.41 medium trust shared hosting install if I try to put the module on a page I get an error message:

Modula Page Error is:
