Hi..this is veni,

Pls Give me solution for the following issue:

i have created a new module and placed datagrid and button in the viewpage . in the page load event grid is displaying with data. and whenever click on button the datagrid data should export into excel sheet. so for this i have written peace of code in the button click event that is:

'Response.Clear()
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment;filename=E:\Projects\SmartMatix_26Apr\Portals\Book1.xls")
'Response.Charset = ""
'Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache)
Response.ContentType =
"application/ms-excel"
Dim stringWrite As System.IO.StringWriter = New
System.IO.StringWriter()
Dim htmlWrite As System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter = New
HtmlTextWriter(stringWrite)
grdItems.RenderControl(htmlWrite)
Response.Write(stringWrite.ToString())
'Response.End()

But i am getting the following error whenever click on button :

A critical error has occurred.
Control 'dnn_ctr23826_ViewUsageLog_grdItems' of type 'GridView' must be placed inside a form tag with runat=server.

pls give a solution for this

Although the error indicates that you are missing a <form runat="server"> element, most likely the error is occurring because you are clearing the page response stream from your module's code. Since this impacts the rest of the page, it is not recommended (even if you can get it to work).

It is better to have a separate aspx page that is called when the button is clicked. This page can do anything to the response stream as the code does not impact any other code on the page.

Thanks Nik,

Thanks for the solution. i got another solution for this. here i am sending the link for data exporting in dotnetnuke module.
http://www.codeproject.com/aspnet/ExportClassLibrary.asp

The Steps are:

1. Add the "RKLib.ExportData.dll" into your project bin.
2. take the dataset object to retrieve data and binding to the grid.
3. Store the dataset in a session.
4. and in the button click event write the following code
Dim dt As DataTable = Session("dt").Copy()
' Export all the details to CSV
Dim objExport As New RKLib.ExportData.Export("Web")
objExport.ExportDetails(dt, Export.ExportFormat.Excel, "UsageLogDetails.xls")

and further details refer the above link.

Veni.
