I am very frustrated by this error, I searched the forums and there is no reference to this at all, which probably means I have something completed messed up.  I followed the instructions to a T and did modify both sections in the config file.  I think it has something to do with IIS setup, but do not know for sure.  Can anyone offer some assistance.  Windows2003 server, .net 2.xxx & SQL2000.  Everything is on a local machine (and I did try using the actual server name which did not help) and not in a hosted environment.  Thanks in advance

I ran into the same problem.  I removed the "-->" as you suggested and the installation worked. Thanks for the help. JW
