Well, yet another subportals inquiry

I'd like to know if there is a way to create parent portals using the sub domains of the hosting portal. (I have control of the IIS)

The purpose of this action is to get rid completely of the ugly "child portals logged out" issue without digging into the code of every modules installed.

Any ideas?

short answer: yes

it would be easiest if you'd set a catch all A record in your dns, which will make all sub domains of the domain point to the same IP addres. Next, in IIS, just don't set a host header, but rather let IIS handle all web requests for that IP address (this will only work if you have a unique ip address for the web site)
