What version of IE are you running?  Are you running using the IE defaults.   I have tested the module w/IE 6 & 7 w/the default settings...both work fine...unless, you have modified some of the IE defaults.

Hi Alan

I am running IE7 with defaults. tried on a couple of machines same issue. I have been trying to diagnose this problem for a while -- There are quite a few posts in the forum about this issue of log off with no solutions found yet.

I run a sports team site where all the team team pages are identical with respect to modules -- except for baseball. the baseball group has Events on all team pages where the other sports only have a calendar on their main pages. Baseball is the only sport having this problem so I thought I would query this forum to see if anyone else is experiencing the same.

It may not be module related at all but how doe one go about figuring this out.  I check the logs and see the same user logging in every few minutes -

I checked out your band site -- looks great. I am working on a band site now for a friend. I also went to your website and navigated through the pages many times and did not get logged out -- as you said I wouldnt :). So I wonder what else would kill the auth cookie. Could something be causing the app pool to flush? many modules on a page?? I am lost on this one?

Thanks for any direction!!

favance-

I tried your site and it does work in IE. The site does not auto logout. Can you provide any idea why this might be happening. When I use fiddler to trace the http traffic I notice that all the cookies are being dumped. I have tried changing the browser configuration but that does not seem to change the behavior.

Thanks,

Sean

I run a web site monitor (there's several of them you can use for free) to monitor my site, to determine when it's up and down.  So, the problem could be on your host provider.  If you see a lot of  "App Restarts" on your site log, I would suspect something is going on w/your host provider.  Are you cleaning your site logs regularly (a scheduled job)...I had a problem once on my sites and we traced it back to I never had configured the schedular to delete logs on a regular basis...this was cause everything from slow response to a lot of strange errors.  Cookies are a normal part of development....we use a few, but they are temp cookies (only while the user is on....I believe we only put 2 small cookies on for language switching and date selection)....so I really don't think that is your issue.

Alan

When the events application creates a cookie is it specific to the module? In some light reading, I read that there is a limit to the number of custom cookies (20) allowed before they are flushed. this might explain why I can navigate to 6 pages and on the 7 I get logged off. I clear up my logs and get no app restarts in my logs either. I have asked my host provider for some help here as well and will report back if i find anything..

thanks!
