Back to the original topic. If you want an image search button (using css backgrounds) and you don't like the new and improved radiobutton functionality you can do the following:

  1. define the css class in the search skinobject, e.g. CssClass="searchtext"
  2. add the following css:

.searchtext  { do your styling }
a.searchtext  { padding: 0px 45px 0px 0px; background: transparent url(images/arrow.gif) no-repeat scroll center right; }
.searchtext input, .searchtext label {display: none; }

The second statement adds the background image, the third statement removes the input and labes for the radiobutton. Now it defaults to the good old search bahavior.

This could be a very silly post when the new skinobject has an attribute such that it defaults to the old behavior, I haven't installed 4.5.2/3 yet, so I don't know (I only had a client with 4.5.2 and a broken skin).
