Certainly... we've only had it "in production" for a couple of days now, but based on yesterday and today (and our old intranet statistics), we get approximately 21k hits per day; "Unique" visitor, not really certain how to find that info but we have about 800 employees that hit this every day and multiple times throughout the day.

The hardware equivalent for our VM machine is: Dual-Core AMD Opteron 2.6ghz (Processor 2218, dunno what that means); 2gb RAM; 20gb HD (easily expandable), Windows Server 2003 SP2; anything else relevant?

As for our #2 solution, I have a copy of it available (free, no registration required) on my personal website.  It is a really simple module and could use a little work but feel free to download it.  The only requirements to run it are turn OFF anonymous authentication on the virtual directory, turn ON Integrated Windows Authentication, and then drop the module on whatever page (typically the home page) you want to trigger the autologon.

I'm working on an auto-logon module that will have that feature as well as several other features in it and hope to have that completed in the next couple of weeks.  It'll allow login-switching (I know that already exists out there), as well as "querystring" logins, and then some other features.

I am drooling over customization points 1, 2 and 3. This is exactly what I want to do for our orginization, but unfortunatley, I'm a one man show and it sounds like it would take me year to get this done.

Well done, sir.

I feel for you... I'm a one-man team myself (as far as programming goes).  Luckily I have the IT guys (about 10 of them) who take care of all the server aspect for me, but I have to manage/maintain my own databases and everything else.  For 800 employees in the organization, I have a LOT of responsibility on my shoulders to deliver all sorts of applications in a reasonable amount of time.  I won't go into details, but lets just say my project list never drops below a year out because people know who I am and what I can do and always dream up new projects for me.

It did take me 6 months to get all my crap done, but it would have been faster if I didn't have 3 other HUGE projects running simultaneously and wanting to be released about the same time.

Let me ask you this; with 800 people and no AD integration, how do you manage your peeps roles? Do you assign them roles as needed?

Thank you for your reply and for the autologin module. I'll be sure to test it on your intranet site. Currently I have authentication through domain controller enabled. I think I might have done something wrong in the settings, 'couse DNN only lets you in if you prefix your username with domain + backslash (or may be it's supposed to be that way). Users forget about this prefix all the time, and those few that remember keep using the wrong slash. I get constantly bombarded with "Why can't I log in?"s and it's beginning to drive me nuts. :)
