Hi,

I was wondering where I should be putting my custom SQL scripts to be installed by DNN at installation time?  I am talking about "application wide" scripts that aren't specific to a module.  I tried putting scripts in the \website\install\scripts folder, but that didn't work.  Is it a naming convention thing?  What am I missing?

Thanks,

Dave Gerding

Why are you trying to run SQL scripts at installation time?  I don't think there is any way to do this, the only scripts you should be adding would be for specific modules.  If you have other application-wide scripts, you could install them after installation if needed.  Can you explain what you are trying to accomplish here?

Thanks for the reply.  I have a number of custom tables that are used both by a proprietary version of the control panel (iconbar) and that are also leveraged by some other custom modules.  So, I was hoping to simply have a package of SQL scripts installed at installation time, before the module build out.

What if I just append the scripts to the last sql script in installl sequence?  Where are those by the way...

FMI, what is the Scripts folder under install for anyway?

The install scripts are in \Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider.  After some more digging, it appears that whatever is in the Install\Scripts folder upon install should run so long as it has the extension .SqlDataProvider (or whatever your default data provider is).  Was that the extension of the scripts that you tried before?

From what I can find in the code, it appears to only run those on install, or when the mode querystring parameter on install.aspx is "executescripts," but to not run them on upgrade.

Let me know if that helps.

Brian,

This is a big help. I had the wrong extension (just .sql).  I'll go give this a try.  Much appreciated.
