I developed a testsite on localhost, now I have to make it available to the outside world for the testing of a payment gateway. So there was a port translation made to my pc and now url test.my.company:8080 points to it.

I added this url to the portalaliases but found out that it simply gets replaced by localhost at the moment you enter the site.

So I started to "hack" the "portalalias" table and replaced localhost url for the new one, restarted the app and well... that didn't seem to work,DNN was not starting... So I kept on experimenting with this portalalias table but it doesn't seem to get somewhere, except the initial situation where my url gets replaced. Anyone can tell what I'm missing?

You will need to set the "UserPortNumber" value to "True" in the appSettings section of the dnn site to ensure that the port number is kept!

Thanks for the suggestion!

But, after I found out it should be "UsePortNumber" instead of "UserPortNumber" all permutations of my testsituations still gave the same result with as best outcome that DNN recognizes the url with portnumber but after that immediately translates it into an url with localhost in it.

So I'm still looking further...

First of all, sorry for the typo in my previous post.

Secondly, can you list what you have in your portal alias table?  we might be able to identify something better if we can see the entries.
