I just installed the latest release of DNN (04.08.02) and followed the instructions found in the above articles.  I however was unable to perform the file modification in IIS because the file: WindowsSignin.aspx is not longer in admin/Security. It appears to now be located in /DesktopModules/AuthenticationServices/ActiveDirectory.  I can make the modifications to this file...and they work, but only if I put the full path:

http://hostname/DNN/desktopmodules/AuthenticationServices/ActiveDirectory/windowssignin.aspx

I would like to have users just go to: http://hostname/DNN and it work....in addition, the web.config change no longer applies...it to has been changed from:

<add name="Authentication" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication" />

to

<add name="Authentication" type="DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory" />

Could you possible post a new revision of the instructions or let me know where I might find more current instructions. Thanks

That initial post was done long before the AD provider was separated from the core. Up to date documentation can be found on the project download page (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Products/Development/Forge/Authentication/Downloads/tabid/852/Default.aspx)

Hi Mike,

I've had a coulpe of glitches with setting up AD.

Contrary to what everyone else says in the setup instructions (links you provide above) everytime I edit web.config and uncomment the line add name="authentication" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Authentication" I got an error message saying that The entry 'Authentication' has already been added, which is true as there is one for Active Directory and DotNetNuke. Which one is the correct one?

It seems to "work" when I do the impersonate instruction above and comment the DotNetNuke authenticator. The first time I try a user gives a critical error that Unknown UserCreateStatus value encountered Parameter name: UserRegistrationStatus. After trying a couple of times I'll get in with a user in AD but a different error will crop up: Redirect URI cannot contain newline characters and then after that I get in?

Am I doing something incorrect in the install?

Stan,

Leave the first Authentication line commented out in your web.config. That's a legacy line that hasn't been removed from the web.config yet and isn't valid anymore.

The UserCreateStatus is a bug and has been fixed in the .04 version which is current in the DNN Release Tracker process.

I'm not sure about the Redirect URI error as I haven't run across that one before. I'll have to see if I can find anything out about it. I just did a quick Google search and the error seems to be pretty common (not anything DNN related so far) so I'm not sure if it's related to the provider (haven't heard any complaints until now) or something else.
