My question might seem like an odd one, but here it goes.  My company is thinking of using dotnetnuke but we currently use a hosting provider that does not allow us to install any third party software on it.  My question basically is, are we in fact installing a third party software on the server of just publishing a .net project?  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

You are publishing a .NET application.  Nothing must be installed on the server, or added to the GAC to work.

You shouldn't have any problems.

You will need access to SQL Server.
