DNN 4.5.1
Hosting: WebHost4Life.com
URL: http://www.turningpointfit.com

I'm using the Google Webmaster Tools to submit my site's map. Originally, GMT kept reporting an error of unacceptable link: www.dotnetnuke.com. I searched my site and this link is nowhere to be found.

Finally, reviewing line 108 of SiteMap.aspx.vb (which is great code/very helpful, BTW):

If GetHashValue(Common.Globals.HostSettings("Copyright"), "Y") = "Y" Then
sb.Append(BuildURL(glbAppUrl, 2))
End If

I'm unable to track down glbAppUrl. Anyone know where this is set/pulled from? For some reason, it's set to www.dotnetnuke.com instead of to my site URL.

As a work-around, I simply commented out the above code.

Thanks.

Thanks for pointing this out, Jeff.

glbAppUrl is defined in DotNetNuke.Common.Globals (DotNetNuke.Library\components\shared\globals.vb) and as you found out is a direct pointer back to www.dotnetnuke.com

Looks like another attempt at getting a hidden back link from all the installed sites out there.

You can also turn it off by logging in as host and going to host settings and unchecking "Show Copyrights".

I blogged about this this other day.  This is actually something that should be removed from the core, because Google denies the sitemap as invalid with the link to DotNetNuke.com in it.

I'll do a search in Gemini and add it if it isn't already there.

I'm thinking it is something that should have never been in there to begin with.

What was the intention of that code?

I have a feeling that you mgiht have hit the intentions on the head for WHY it was there.  I agree that it should NOT be there because by design it does NOT work with the Google sitemap project essentially making the sitemap useless, even if the user wanted to leave the copyright information on the site.

I will check Gemini as soon as I can actually get to it, I am getting a "Service Unavailable" message right now.
