How do I change the listing on the "Select A Module" listing on the control panel?

For example, I have a group of users (that I can define with System Roles) that only need to use/choose from limited set of modules: "Text/HTML" yes.  "Account Login", "User Account" no.  Having the modules listed only caused confusion and sensory overload and general fear and trepidation.  I have tried adjusting "Module" definitions, Control, Edit, Type.  Whatever I am doing does not seem to take the module off the listing of "Select A Module" to choose from the control panel for a group of users.  What are the steps to do this?

Thanks.

no responses?  I looked at the premium setting but it didn't seem to help.  I am thinking a "hack"/low-tech work around is to "friendly name" the ones NOT for use by everyone something like GURUS ONLY blah, blah blah...

All installed modules will show up in the control panel module list. The premium module setting controls visibility by portal, not by user, so it will not address what you're trying to accomplish. Short of modifying the core, I think having a prefix as you are proposing is probably the easiest solution.

yep.  went the low tech route.  z GURU for the advanced modules, z SYSTEM for system modules, z TEST ONLY for those modules that aren't considered "production-ready".

thanig,

We are scoping out the need to create just what you describe here.  We're going to be making some changes whereby a super-user can assign permissions to modules by portal role.
