Hi guys,

I couldn't figure out what the correct forum was for this idea, so figured this might be the right one.

Was thinking about the release tracker.  If you're anything like me you've been waiting, and waiting for a module ( forum in my case ).  I seem to be checking the release tracker every couple of hours to see if there is any movement ( client's driving me crazy ).  Maybe a good enhancement to the release tracker would be the ability to subscribe, so that when there is a change, such as dog fooding, that you are noticed.  Among other things, this will also help with the communication process, allowing you to know every step it is making or whatever.

Just an idea.  DNN is a great product, and the new tracking/monitoring of the projects has really helped.

The Release Tracker already has a subscription model built into it. There are 4 sets of roles for each state of the tracker workflow

- authorized roles : roles that can pass/fail exit criteria
- download roles : roles that can download the package when the package is in that particular state ( eg: only allow benefactors to download the pacakge when it's reached the staging state )
- comment roles : roles that can add notes to a package when it's in that particular state
- subscriber roles : roles that will receive emails whenever a package enters the state, passes the state, or fails the state

In addition to specificy roles for each of those permissions, you can specify a specific email address to allow the designation of individuals to each permission without having to make them a member of a specific role.

The only thing that's missing at this point is a public interface to allow people to 'sign up' for notifications. Currently, the assignment of roles and individuals is a manual administration task perfomed in the workflow settings page.

The abiltity to signup for email notification will be discussed and I'm confident it will be added in the near future.

The release tracker is a VERY welcome addition.

Being able to get notices would be great!

I thought I saw at one time that the release tracker would actually be released as a module, is that something that will happen?
