I've built a custom module using this tutorial:

http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/DNN4_WAP/

It's built against the 4.5.3 codebase and the module works fine in a standard 4.5.3 test installation (not localhost).

I tried it against a 4.5.1 installation. Everything installed ok, but when I add the module to a tab I get:

'EditURL is not declared' error.

I went back to the code and made sure the Dotnetnuke.dll was added as a reference and set to Copy Local to True, but the error is still there.

Any ideas how to fix this? Surely modules built on 4.5.3 are compatible with other versions, or do I have to have several versions of the same module, each built on the relevant codebase version?

Edit, I just checked, and here's the actual setup:

  • Module built against the 4.5.1 codebase locally
  • Module works fine in localhost in 4.5.1
  • Module works fine in remote installation of 4.5.3
  • Module fails in remote installation of 4.5.1

Am I missing something really obvious here?

I've obviously not had enough coffee today.

I fixed the EditURL issue by moving it to code behind like in this example:

http://forums.asp.net/p/957938/1182795.aspx

The 2nd installation I tried it on is 4.5.0 not 4.5.1 as I previously said. I get a dll conflict error now because the module is built on 4.5.1. So my module is compatible with 4.5.1 +.

Time to put the kettle on...
