Hello,

Is it possible, either directly through DNN or with a third-party module, to set up a registration mode that combines private and verified user registration? I need to check over everybody's profile, but I also need to make sure that they are using a valid email address.

I don't care what order it happens in- either I approve their account first, or they verify their email first. But both things should be done before they are given access to the site.

If anybody knows of anything like this, or thinks that it would be an easy thing to code in, I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

One way to make it happen, which is not optimal, but does not require any code changes is for you to set it to private, and at the same time you authorize them you could also reset their password.

Then change the e-mail that goes out to let them know they need to request thier new password before they can login.

That is kind of ugly though.

I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to make the system send a verification code instead of automatically authorizing them if you are in private mode.

You should put it in as an enhancement request at http://support.dotnetnuke.com

Another possibility is to use verification, but then use additional role(s) to make the content you want private.  Essentially, you'd be ignoring the "registered users" role I guess.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I created an issue for it:

Would anybody else use this if I coded it? It's going to require changes to the core and the database (unless somebody has an idea how to do it without).
