I am having some trouble creating an application folder within the dotnetnuke site for an asp page I need to run.  For the sake of simplicity I would like to be able to use the asp page I have now and I know it can work because I have gotten this to work in the past.  The problem is the asp page is throwing an error referencing the dotnetnuke web.config file.

I have an empty web.config file in this directory and have the application folder running in a seperate application pool.

Does anyone have any ideas why the dotnetnuke web.config file is being referenced?  Any suggestions?

Thanks

do not place your app inside the dnn folder, as web.config files get inherited.

The recommended method of have a sub folder with a different web app is to add this to the web.config in your sub folder:

<httpModules>
      <clear />
</httpModules>

However, I have never tried this when the sub folder contained ASP .. so it may or may not work for you
