I get the same behavior I mentioned in my first post both when I hit enter and when I click login.

I fixed it with the one I was having problems with.  It was caused by the server date being 2 days in the past.  Though I don't know why it only effected IE7.  Also the install in question was 4.4.1

Hope this might help someone

Antony

I wouldn't imagine that the search box could cause this problem.  Is that why you asked me to come up with that code Mariette?
I could see where it would allow someone to hit the enter key on the login screen so that the login is submitted instead of the search, maybe that is what it fixes?

Yes. Previously I had the login and register modules on a tab but since that did not work any more with the last version I had to change that. A skin without the search object does not have the problem with IE 70 to save the password. This is since ages like this...

Well, I am going offline for three weeks now for holiday without Internet...bye bye

I found that with the cookie setting at medium, this problem exists, even if I add our site to always allow cookies.

If I change the cookie setting to "allow all cookies from all sites", then it works properly and the login is ok.

It's unrealistic to force all users to completely open their system to "allow all cookies from all sites" as this can allow other sites to do harm.

This happens with or without the script code added from a previous message in this thread.

This is becomming a pretty obvious obsticle to our moving live and could really use some help resolving this issue.

goldenblunt, What domain are you setting the cookie from, and are you doing a redirect to another domain? Cookies are dependant on the domain field to determine access i.e. If the domain name in the Domain field matches the issuing site’s domain name, it is known as a First Party cookie - these are trusted because of the relationship and browsers default to allowing access to read/write them. However if the cookie is set by one domain but read by another these are known as third-party cookie's, and by default aren't as trusted (e.g. they're usually things like ad cookies set by google etc.), however if you have users logging into www.mysite.com, and then redirect to www.myothersite.com (but both are mapped to the same IIS instance, you can have the same problem)
