Hi all,
I've set up our company's intranet using DNN, and since its hosted externally, its password protected. I've been getting a bit of flack lately from our IT dept because when people forget their password and request it, it gets sent to them in plain text via email. After thinking it over, I'd like to set up the password retrieval process to work as such:

1. User clicks the "Forgot Password" link, enters either email or username
2. A temporary default password is emailed to them
3. When they log in with this temp password, they are prompted to enter a new password before continuing, and no email is sent

Is it possible to set it up this way?

Thanks

You could either modify the core to set this up, or you could build a simple module to do this.

You would need to set the temporary password, then send the email, be sure to set their account to require a password update.

The user would then be forced to change it on login.

As far as I know you would have to actually modify the core to do this or create a module, but there MIGHT be a config option.  I am not 100% sure.  I do know if you need a custom module it would only be a couple hours of work tops.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but you're corresponding with a graphic designer who knows nothing about module development.

So... I guess what you're saying is, with the basic core 4.3.7 install of DNN, the answer is "no"?

Yes as it is right now, it is not possible.

If you are looking to build it in you could get someone to build a module for you for a reasonable price.  If you are interested in exploring that option I would be interested in placing a bid.
