Hi,

We've had our site up for a while now, without any problems, and recently upgraded to 4.5.3.

Now suddenly 2 weeks after the upgrade, no new pages can be added/copied since after selecting the options, and clicking on 'update' the page just 'hangs' forever, while the tab is actually quickly created, but no modules are copied to the page.

Tracing the SQL shows that there are tons of UpdateTabOrder, GetTabPermissionsByPortal and GetTabs called, causing a nice load on the DB, but there is no page showing up.

(ths server is a 2 CPU, dual core Opteron with 8GB RAM, so performance is not really the issue normally..)

Please help, we need to get this functionality up and running again as soon as possible.

(in the mean time we work around it by after hittig create going to the page and adding modules manually but who knows whats all messing up in the DB.)

Any hints/tips whatever is appreciated.

Cheers,

Leon

have you checked the dnn event log (accessible from admin menu) for errors associated?

No, there is nothing in the event log, and that makes it so much harder to pinpoint.

(I just re-checked, since you never know, but in the event log everything looks fine.)

Any hints on what/where to check ? (I've run our intranet site for almost 2 years now, so I do have some experience with DNN, but right now I am completely lost where to look/what to change.) I've even been going through the sourcecode, trying to replay all the actions on the database, but all those steps seem to be going great. (create tab, create tabmodules, etc etc)

Hi,

I seem to be having the exact same problem.

We have a client that had been running a slightly modified 4.3.5 install. (Yes I know that modifying the core is bad, but they had already done it.)

We upgraded them to version 4.4.1 a while back, leaving the changes they made intact.  Everything worked fine.

But just this week I have been working on upgrading to version 4.5.3 and am suddenly having huge issues adding / copying pages.

The event viewer shows no related errors.

I am showing the same huge amount of hits on the database as sentry23, and after inserting some trace statements into the code, I have narrowed the problem down to the UpdateTabOrder function within TabController.vb.  I am still looking into exactly what code is causing the slowdown, and will let you know what I find.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,

Zack
