I am sorry this is my third post, but I was wondering what the function or purpose of permalink is and if it can be undone.  I find that when I hit permalink, it changes ALL my blogs to today's date, and I can't seem to change them back.

I would hate for a user to hit that button and then ruin any chance of keeping good dates for his blog posts.

I hope I am just overlooking something, but this permalink button has me worried.

Thanks

Hello there,

The permalink is non other than a "Link to this page" function. I personally have never would have known if I were not a blogger, so I understand how "non-bloggers" can get confused by the term. Here is what wikipedia defines it as: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permalink

What it is supposed to do is simply to link and go to the article page and to provide the link to it in the address bar. The user can then copy it and paste it wherever it is that they need i.e. website, email etc.

That said, it is NOT supposed to change your blog entry dates! If that is the case, it is a bug.
I tried to reproduce this behaviour but was not able to. My dates remain intact.

Could you please try it again and confirm by replying to this post and by providing version #s of DNN and the Blog Module?

Thanks!

Hello,

I found out what part was resetting all my dates.  It is when I go to Blog Module Options and click on the Regenerate all Permalinks.  That is when all my dates become todays date.  Is that what it is supposed to do, or have I done something wrong?  My site is http://endtags.homeip.net/northcreek  (please note it is totally a mess because I am testing all sorts of DNN modules and stuff to see what I want to use for the church website.  The skinning is all mine though.)  Also it is on a virtual server that I will try to keep up all weekend if you want to see it for troubleshooting purposes.  I installed DNN myself and could very well have done something wrong in the installation process.

When the church website goes live I will be using WebHosting 4 Life, so I won't have to worry about installing DNN wrong. LOL.

I just want to thank you for your replies.  I am loving DNN and especially like the fact that you guys try and answer our questions even when most of the time it is us doing something wrong.

Thanks,
mykkMoose.

This is a self made problem with the version 3.3 of the blog module.

The problem is based on the changed stored procedure Blog_UpdateEntry

The problem is that the addedDate field of the entry will be overwritten each time with the current datetime when the entry will be updated.

BTW: I have the same problem while testing the module, but I have restored my database and my portal with the backup.
