I added a buddy of mine to the Administrators group to test and he can Open New Thread / Reply to Posts...

I am not sure what i've done wrong or haven't done but I didn't restrict anything on the forums and added the Roles Users are in to the "Authorized Edit Roles" of the forums. Do know if I had to but getting desperate .

I noticed that a "regular" user doesn't see the "New Thread", "My Settings" and "My Posts" buttons. I would've thought that no special permissions are required to see the "My Settings" button...

For "regular" user only "Search" and "Forum Home" buttons are displayed.

Anyone that I add to the "Administrators" role see all 5 buttons and can post new thread.

I will keep looking but running out of ideas :).

Thx again for any help you can offer.

Sorry for posting so much and answering my own posts  but i'd really like to get the forums to work, I think they look nice :).

If the "Is Role Restricted" box isn't selected in the General settings of the forums AND the user account is "Authorized", they should be able to post new threads and reply to existing one right?

Ok last post but I thought I should let everyone know that it doesn't look like it has anything to do with forums. I tried the event module and a similar behavior is occuring. I give permissions to certain users to add / edit events and they don't see the buttons so it has nothing to do with forums.

I will investigate and post in a different forum if I can't figure it out :).
