Personally I would rather see vendors charge a realistic price for their product rather than trying to go with bargain basement pricing.  Every vendor knows what their overhead costs are and what sort of support they offer and they should price their products to make money so that they can continue to develop and enhance their product.  Too often in the DNN space, the community tries to badger a vendor into lowering their prices, which only results in the vendor also being forced to lower their costs.  How would people feel if tomorrow their employer came and said that they were cutting salaries in half because customers wanted them to cut the price of their products/services in half?  Employees would not be happy.

Here is just a small sampling of some product prices from Snowcovered:

Cutopia Location Finder US Edition - $499.00
DNN KickStart Source - $999.00
Data Springs Collection 1.7 Enterprise Edition - $789
DNNAuction - $398

While there are not a lot of products in the several hundred dollar range, few of the other products actually allow you to directly generate income.  If you are running an ecommerce storefront of any significant size, then justifying the price for a product like AspDotNetStorefront is easy.  Personally, I have done a few different storefronts where the cost of labor alone for setting up and configuring the store, along with the needed customizations, far exceeded the license fees for this product.  Heck, even hosting fees for a dedicated server will set you back a $1000+/year and people gladly pay that amount.  License costs for an ecommerce site of any size or sophistication is part of the cost of doing business and should be accounted for in the pricing of the products being sold.

There seems to be everything right with this offering, but that doesn't mean low-budget people can't make any comments.

When I have that kind of budget, I will gladly spend it for something this high in quality.  The price, I'm sure is well worth it.  I don't see anyone badgering the vendor.  This is a forum, right?  As in "comments from cheap developers welcome," right?  LOL

When I have thousands of dollars in my module purchasing budget, I'll just sign up for annual subscriptions for everything.

But maybe by that time I'll be good enough to do it myself.  At least, I'm hoping to get that good.

These guys are doing a smash-up job, and they should be cheered for the great product they offer.

Don't get too fired up because of some comments (i'm thinking it was Brian's ignorant comment above that go you fired up, but you know, just a couple cents from newbieville; we all know it's okay to get fired up at brian)... :-)
