Hi, I have a question adding more domains in dnn (portal aliases) and SEO. We currently have a website http://ethanol.feeco.com and are thinking about purchasing some other domains with our keywords in. I am wondering if it will help boost our search rankings if we purchase more domains and add them to our portal alias? Then we can submit all of the different domains to the search engines. We need to boost traffic fast and get into the search engines quickly with this site. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

I think if you use multiple domainnames you wil spread your link  popularity and you will go down in the rankings.

Just make sure people like your content, if you try to use some trick to get up quick you mostly end up lower then before on the long term.

My cursory studies of SEO theory suggested the same thing; having multiple URLS pointing to the same site will not help your PR or postion in the rankings, but could, in fact, hurt you.  I, too, started down this road, purchasing some serious Internet real estate and intended on having each domain pointing to the same site.  After reading about the factors that impact your Google rankings, I decided to just mirror the site, changed the logo, and had individual sites mirroring similar content and layouts.  In the not-too-distant future, I'll see which is generating the traffic and start closing some of the others down...

Any of the more seasoned SEO folks want to chime in and keep us between the lines?
