I just installed DNN 3.2.2, for the very first time, with no apparent problems, but I've been unable to login as either admin or host. But I can create another user, and login as him.

The db looks fine. Dbo.aspnet_Membership shows IsApproved=1 and IsLockedOut=0 for admin and host, and I can clear the FailedPassword fields, to no effect. The dates look fine. DboEventLog does not show anything unusual, as far as I can tell.

The password reminder won't work, since I am unable to send email from this installation. I just installed it on my localhost, to do some basic investigation. I'm using ISS v. 5.1, Windows XP pro 2002 sp2, SQL Server 2000. (I bet the email msg would say the password is admin anyway...)

All I get is the red triangle with "Login Failed, remember that Passwords are case sensitive". Can I somehow transform my new user into an admin?

I'm about ready to just delete everything, and reinstall it. Other pointers and suggestions will be appreciated.

You can try hacking the UserRoles table: add a new entry for the user you want to make and administrador and the RoleId of the administrators group.

create a new account from register option, and login in to de MSQL database, open the table

aspnet_Membersship goto the new record just created and copy the same strings Password and passwordsalt in to the fields of the admin or host record fields, and try now

Thanks, that did the trick. I was able to login as admin by copying Password and PasswordSalt in to the admin record. I guess the default password really was not admin for some reason.
