Running 4.5.3.
One of my other administrators tried to upload a new module last week. When he found that the permissions requirements (Full vs. Medium) could not be met by our hosting provider, he uninstalled the module. Apparently, something else happened along the way. I found out about the issue yesterday. Now, when you click on the login link at the top of the homepage, you get the following message

Module Load Warning.
One or more of the modules on this page did not load. This may be temporary. Please refresh the page (click F5 in most browsers). If the problem persists, please let the Site Administrator know.

All users, myself (host & admin) can't login right now. I can't view the Event Viewer to see what is going on. I've read others that have said to change the web.config slightly to restart the application. I've reloaded the web.config, changed it, and even taken out lines to see if I could break it....all to no avail.
My last backup (since I had been relying on my hosting provider's backups in case something like this happened) was June 8 just before I executed the upgrade to 4.5.3, which executed without a flaw.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've had the smae problem. did a fresh reinstall from a wiped clean directory of 4.5.3 and a fresh SQL2005 database. Out of the box home page comes up like a charm. Login and Register give the "module load Warning". have checked machine keys in web.config and they are properly tansferred from release.config.

do machine keys need to be transferred before or after database is set up? Another post suggests "resetting IIS" which i guess I could ak my host to do.

Help!

Further digging shows this bug has been identified (and I thought fixed before 4.5.3). anthony glenwright posted this:

"Further to this: The error is on line 471 of PortalSecurity.vb. If you change the existing line:

If UserName.Length > 0 Then

to

If UserName <> String.Empty Then

The problem is fixed."

and it can be found in this thread: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/118/threadid/94266/threadpage/1/scope/posts/Default.aspx

while I've done some VB I don't have the source and thus can't check to see if this fix got made. am running the 4.5.3 install code.

I did download the code for PortalSecurity.vb and the bug mentioned in my previoius post has been squashed so this would not seem to be the source of our "Module Load Warnings".

This is very frustrating as I was about to put DNN in production with our company website and intranet. In order to clean things up i started with a fresh install a delete, and recreate, of the database (SQL 2005) on the same host. Things had worked very well before, no hint of a Module Load Warning. The stock home page loads fine but the dreaded Module Load Warning error comes up on Login or register. have tried 3 different browsers and F5 does nothing.

My host (Server Intellect) did a "fresh install" of DNN and resotred me back to a previous version of my database. (Very impressive service for July 4th!) I am back going again able to access DNN. This is a prototype installation and my four or five pages of smaple data are gone, but at least I am up and going.

this error must be something to do with the database access, as it works with an old database but not with the new one I had created, and apparently successfully pointed to since it was serving up the default page.
