I am getting this error in my event log 3-6 times a hour:

Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.3959, stamp 45d6968e, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, stamp 00000000, debug? 0, fault address 0x0073006c.

The fault address is always the same. How can I track this problem down? I believe it is DNN related...

By googling the w3wp.exe file I found ProcessLibrary.com which states:

w3wp.exe is a process associated with application pool in ISS. If you have more than one application pool, you will have more than one instance of w3wp.exe running. This process usually allocates large amounts of resources. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.

Given this definition it appears that the problem might lie with your application pool. I'm not sure which pool you are running DNN on but you might want to try changing to a different one. Instead of using the default pool I have been using Classic or ASP.NET V2.0 ( I'm running Vista and IIS7).

I'm not sure if this is totally correct or if it will help, but at least it's a place to start.

Good luck,

Mike
