Hello

i am struggling to get this working, when i browse local host, i just get the directory listing of DNN folder, database conection seems ok and i get following error browsing to web config

HTTP Error 404.8 - Not Found

Description: The request filtering module is configured to deny a path in the URL that contains a hiddenSegment section.

Error Code: 0x00000000

Notification: BeginRequest

Module: RequestFilteringModule

Requested URL: http://localhost:80/web.config

Physical Path: C:\inetpub\DotNetNuke\WebSite\web.config

Logon User: Not yet determined

Logon Method: Not yet determined

Handler: StaticFile

Most likely causes:

  • Request filtering is configured for the Web server and it contains a hiddenSegments section that allows the server administrator to deny access to specific directories.

What you can try:

  • Verify configuration/system.webServer/security/requestFiltering/hiddenSegments settings in the applicationhost.config or the web.config file.

Could anyone please shed some light

Thanks

It appears to be a problem with the Request filtering line in the web.config. I've had problems on some of my local sites where this line generates a UserID/Password login box so I commented the line out like this:

<!-- add name="RequestFilter" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression.RequestFilter.HttpModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression" / -->

It is a different error message but the line is not required and it wouldn't hurt to try.

Good luck,

Mike
