Hello:

I just downloaded the latest install package 4.5.3, did an unzip into a folder under win 2003 server, mapped a virtual directory to it, under an asp.net 2.0 application pool.

Trying the main page, it tries to start the install process as the url changes to /Install/InstallWizard.aspx but I get an error page:

DotNetNuke Error: - Version 04.05.03

 I tried giving NETWORK SERVICE write,modify permissions to the windows folder, but the error page still gives the same message.  The website is running anonymous as the IUSR_MACHINENAME user, I gave write, modify permissions for the web.config for that user as well under windows, still the same message.

Same here, installed on WinXP IE 6, in a virtual directory configured as an application. Both NETWORK SERVICE and ASPNET users have full control on folder. Error remains:

 DotNetNuke Error: - Version 04.05.03

DotNetNuke Configuration Error
Access to the path 'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\DNNTest\web.config' is denied.

I had the same error previously but I'm running Vista with IIS7 so it might not be the answer. I rechecked my NETWORK SERVICE account and it did have full control permissions but I still got the error. I knew it had to do with a permissions issue so I decided to check other accounts as well. I did find that my USERS account did not have full control permissions so I modified the account with full control privileges and the problem was solved.

The problem seems to be a permissions issue so I would first check all user accounts.
