This is probably just about as "newbie" as a question can get...

I have successfully installed Version 4.5.3 of DNN and discovered the Module Configuration option under the host account which happily allows me to add the modules that installed with the source but weren't activated.

If I want to download and add one of the extra modules which is available via the DNN site can someone point me at a step by step guide for doing so?  I noticed that there is an "install new module" option in the Module Configuration screen which allows me to browse to a file but what file do I want?

Many thanks for any help.

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

all module installation packs for DotNetNuke come as zip files. If you want to install a third party module, go to the vendor's web site and look for a "download module" link. Most vendors require that you register as user before you can download - even for free or demo modules. (Note that your DotNetNuke account won't work there).

OK, download the offered zip file and upload it into your DotNetNeke installation, using the "Install new module" option. This will start the automatic installation process - DotNetNuke will  unzip the file and show you an installation log on the "Install New Module" page, which should say "Installation OK" or sth like that. If any errors occurred (look for red lines in the log),  then ask the vendor what to do.

Hope that helps. Good look with DotNetNuke!

Hello Kevin,

Just in case you haven'n figured it out by now, you were blazing on the right track. The link directly above that one is the one you are looking for to do the process you are decribing. However, you do need to select which module you would like to install. But, you might only want to install only the ones you need. When I started, I installed all available extra and ended up with problems and had to reinstall.

Good luck to you on your DNN ventures!

              Take care,

                       George
