Are the forums ready to run in Medium Trust on ASP.NET 2.0 with SQL Server 2005 and DotNetNuke 4.0.2? I'm thinking not because I received an error and failure with such an install attempt (however the SQL Server tables and stored procedures were still created). I guess I just need to delete the forum tables and stored procedures from the database and wait till the forum is ready to install in such an environment?

Thanks,

Jean-Marie

I am not sure why there would be an install error, as I have done so in a medium trust enviroment in 4.x.  This issue might be sql 2k5 related more than anything else, which I haven't tried yet w/ this module.  Considering what things are not permitted in Medium Trust, the only concerns I see with this module involve attachments or the gallery under these situations.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.
Well, the forum database tables and stored procedures were created in the SQL Server 2005 database, so not sure if it's related to that. However, I did get this installation error message (see screenshot below):

http://www.blueveranda.com/images/images_blueveranda/module_forum_failed_install_error.png

My webhost support said to ask you "what configuration (ASP.NET 2.0, medium trust configuration?) that you are running on the server to make it work we are using mostly default medium trust except we have loosened a couple of restrictions so our custom medium trust has more access than the default one."

There seem to be issues with applications/ASP.NET 2.0 medium trust that are different than with ASP.NET 1.1 medium trust.

Regards,

Jean-Marie

Just an update -- Webhost finally resolved configuration issues with ASP.NET 2.0 and medium trust, and I was able to successfully install the forum on DNN 4.0.2 / SQL Server 2005 / ASP.NET 2.0 without error.

Glad the host worked this out.  Is it possible for you to get me the information of what the host changed to make this work?

Also, you are correct; there are differences between 1.1 and 2.0 medium trust.
