How come when I simply insert an html module and type some text it always gets wrapped in <p> tags?  I really hate this because firefox (and sometimes IE) does wierd things with the presentation and spacing of these tabs...  Is there any way to tell it what tags to wrap the text in.. or better yet dont put any tags around the text.

I am constantly editing what I want then removing the tags... this is frustrating and hard for a non-technical user to get their heads around.

Thanks for any help you can offer on this.

Yes, I have the same problem.  I researched and found a partial solution on the fckeditor website.  But it still operates a little unpredictably.  Try this:

In the fckconfig.js file replace
FCKConfig.EnterMode = 'p' ; with
FCKConfig.EnterMode = 'br' ;

Does anyone know how to upgrade the fckeditor from version 2.4.1 (included in DNN) to version 2.4.3?

I think 2.4.3 fixes these <br> and <p> problems entirely.

Thanks,

Dean.

I actually like the paragraph tags on each return. Use the shift-enter for the line return. To fix the spacing problems you may have define your paragraph spacing in your css file. p {margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 3px;} or whatever you like. I like the 0px at the top as it gives a bit more control.

the P tag is the most used solution because as jhoelz said it can give you full control over it in your .css files. The same behavior is on MSWord and other normal editors. Shift+enter produces a single line while just enter produces a paragraph.

The entermode property works fine as well. It must be modified in the /custom/fckconfig.js file.

After any modification of fckconfig.js you need to clear your browser cache for it to take the new version

right I understand the shift enter vs enter...

The trouble is when I simply insert an image... nothing else.. it wraps it in P tags... I dont think it should do this.. just give me the img tag and dont add extra... Firefox renders the p tag differently than IE and the result is extra spacing I dont need...

It will do the same thing if you just enter text... it will wrap it in a tag that will create spacing you dont want.. . if you hit enter then ok I see it but not if you dont...

Make sense?
