I installed the new 4.5.4 release, when running the installation.. I got this error below. Things that never happened with any 4.5.x versions. And deleted all my previous packages, thinking there should not be a problem to install that new release.  Helpppp ! Thanks !

I got the same issue with a new 4.5.4 install package.  However this was resolved when I prepopulate the SQL connection settings with the correct connection string and the install process went smoothly.

As mentioned above I would check your connection strings to be sure they are 100% correct.

I got the same errors, without solution.
I have install MSSQL Server 2000, MSSQL Server 2005 Express and new the MSSQL Server 2005 Standard on the same dnn machine.

Can that be the problem?

As outlined in Professional DotNetNuke 4 Chapter 2 Page 68:

The AutoUpgrade function detects if the database is empty. If the AutoUpgrade setting is false, a "Site Unavailable" page appears. The administrator can then trigger the install by navigiating to your relative install URL  server/install/install.aspx?mode=install

While the page "This site is unavailable" is gone, I got a new page that indicated more about the problem, it  was in the connection string:

Error Installing DotNetNuke

Current Assembly Version: 04.05.04

ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider
